Information Minster, Lai Mohammed, has stated The Federal Government's intention regulate the social media realm.

At a press conference Mohammed stated: “It has reached a level that the government may just no longer fold its arms and allow this to continue.” 

This statement comes weeks after the government clamped down on hate speech with an increased amount of fines dispensed. 

Though social media is plaugued with the circulation of false information which misleads the public, it has also been said that this action may be a scheme by the goverment to silence its critics.
