US troops injured despite denial by Pentagon

Several United States troops were apparently injured during a 16 milssile attack last week on an airbase in Iraq. This news comes in the heels of the Pentagon initially stating that there were no casualties.  A US military official told CNN that 11 service members had been injured in the attack.

"While no U.S. service members were killed in the Jan. 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad Air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed," the US-led military coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria said in a statement Thursday.

There have since been several theories put forth as to why the casualties were first not disclosed and the motive behind the attack.
