Nigerian Couple Busted for Prostituting Young Girls in Italy

Thirty-five-year-old Mrs. Comfort Innocent, has admitted that she trafficked young women from Nigeria to Italy through Libya for prostitution.

Innocent, who was captured by the police in Ogun State, said her husband, who lived in Italy, received the women.

She added that she had been in the business for quite a while.

The suspect was captured on December 22 regarding the kidnapping and trafficking of two underage young ladies.

Her capture followed a report by Oluwaseun Aduratola and Sakirat Fasasi, occupants of Siun town in Obafemi Owode Local Government, who told criminologists at Owode Egba Police Station that the suspect snatched their little girls – Blessing Aduratola, 15 and Hasisat Fasasi, 16.

The moms grumbled that the suspect was very nearly trafficking their girls to Italy through Libya where they would be forced into prostitution.

The Divisional Police Officer for Owode Egba Division, Mathew Ediae, drove a group of criminologists to capture the suspect.

Do you think human trafficking is an issue that plagues Africa?

Police representative Abimbola Oyeyemi, who uncovered this in an assertion, said the suspect had admitted during cross examination to being a human trafficker, who had been in the business for quite a while.

Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), cited the suspect as saying that her husband, who is situated in Italy, gets the young ladies, while she remains in Nigeria recruiting young women and girls and sending them to Italy in transit Libya.

He said the two young ladies the suspect kidnapped were taken to Kaduna State, from where they would be moved to Libya, adding that they had, notwithstanding, been saved in Kaduna State by the police.

Official of Police Edward Ajogun has coordinated that the suspect be moved to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for additional examination.
