Nicki Minaj annouced her imminent retirement from music via Twitter. 

She stated: “I've decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now." The latter sentence refers to the hate mail she has been recieving, suggesting that she should have children because time was not on her side. 

In past interviews, Nicki has expressed her love for children and her wish to become a mother, stating that she would marry first though, however. Rumor has it that she and her long time boyfriend Kenneth Petty have acquired a marriage license, so children may not be far off. 

The halls of Nicki's decade long rap career have been truly decorated: with ten Grammys, five MTV music awards and a Guiness World Record for the most entries by a female solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. She was also acknowledged this year as the first female rapper to officially sell One Hundred Million albums and singles. 

Let's face it though, is Nicki truly permanently retiring from music? Perhaps she will she make an explosive return like Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, or basically every high profile rapper at one point within the last decade!
