The silver price in naira isn’t set locally — like gold, silver trades globally in US dollars per troy ounce, so its naira price is that dollar figure multiplied by the live dollar to naira rate.

How the naira price is calculated

Silver is quoted in dollars per troy ounce (about 31.1 grams). The per-gram naira price is: (silver price in USD per ounce ÷ 31.1) × the current USD→NGN rate. When either the global silver price or the exchange rate moves, the naira figure moves with it — the same method as the gold price per gram.

Purity and form

• Fine silver is ~99.9% pure — the full spot value.
• Sterling silver is 92.5% — worth about 0.925 of the fine price.
• Coins and jewellery carry a premium above spot for craftsmanship and dealer margin.
