16 October 2026 - Naira BriefingUsing the eNaira starts with a wallet — the eNaira app or a tier offered through your bank. Once set up, it works much like other naira payment apps, but the money is issued by the CBN itself. Here is how it fits into everyday use.

Getting started
- Download and register — the eNaira wallet, verified with your BVN.
- Fund it — move naira in from your bank account.
- Send and receive — pay merchants and people by wallet or code.
Where it fits
The eNaira handles naira payments; it sits beside mobile money and virtual accounts in the payments mix, not above them. For anything in foreign currency, the usual FX and remittance routes still apply, such as receiving from abroad.
Need foreign currency too?
We convert naira to dollars at a market-based rate when you need it.
