iPhone Prices in Nigeria: What You Pay and Why (the Dollar Factor)
11 October 2026 - Naira BriefingiPhone prices in Nigeria can feel like they change every few weeks — and they do, because they’re driven mostly by the dollar. An iPhone is imported, priced in dollars at source, and sold in naira, so the exchange rate is the single biggest factor in what you pay.
What goes into the price
- Dollar cost of the phone — the base price abroad, converted at the USD to naira rate.
- Import duty and clearing — added at the port.
- Logistics and retailer markup — shipping, risk and profit.
- New vs UK-used (“Tokunbo”) — used units cost far less.
Estimate the naira price yourself
Take the current dollar price of the model, multiply by the live USD to Naira rate, then add roughly a third for duty, logistics and markup as a rough guide. When the naira weakens, prices rise even if Apple hasn’t changed anything.
Buying from abroad
Some buyers import directly to save money — which means funding a dollar card and factoring in shipping and customs, much like ordering from Shein.
